Head Coach

In his second year as a head coach at the college level, Garcia brings 5 years of professional baseball experience to the Parkland Baseball staff. He spent four seasons with the River City Rascals and was the bench coach for the 2010 team that won the Frontier League championship. In 2011 the Rascals tied the Frontier League record for wins (68) during the regular season before falling to the Slammers in the Frontier League Championship Series. Eight of the players Garcia has coached have been signed to affiliated baseball. Coach Garcia spent 2013 as the hitting coach of the Joliet Slammers before leaving professional baseball in August to coach at his alma mater Parkland College.

Coach Garcia has spent the last 9 years as the head baseball coach/AD at Putnam County High School. Garcia led the Panthers to the Sweet 16 in 2011 and to a State Runner Up finish in 2013. Garcia has helped over 25 area baseball players move on to play collegiate baseball. In his 5 years as the head varsity coach Garcia collected a career record of 124-51 for the Panthers.

As a player, Coach Garcia played at Parkland College from 1998-2000. In the fall of 1999, Garcia signed to play at Northern Illinois University. Following his senior season he signed a professional contract to play in the Frontier League for the Rockford Riverhawks.

Coach Garcia has been happily married to his wife Jen since 2004. They have two daughters McKenna (7) and Macie (2).


Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator

Coach Goebel returns to the Parkland coaching staff after serving as an assistant in 2010. He has spent the last 4 years serving as the Champaign Centennial High School pitching coach, as well as, coaching and directing a local high school travel baseball program in Champaign, called Team Mizuno IL. Coach Goebel is from Edwardsville, IL where he attended Edwardsville High School. He played 2 years of junior college baseball before attending Bradley University for his junior and senior seasons. Coach Goebel participated in the junior college world series as both a player and a coach. He will work with Parkland pitchers and outfielders.
